Railyard & Service
|
The
servicing railroad of the CRC industrial park, The Rochester & Southern Railroad, Inc. (R&S), is part of
Genesee & Wyoming Inc. (G&W), an international operator of
numerous regional and short line railroads located throughout the North
America, Central America, South America and Australia. Genesee and
Wyoming is publicly traded on the NYSE under the symbol GWR. R&S
is a regional railroad that provides regularly scheduled, six day a week service to
the CRC yard. The
R&S links directly to all the eastern Class One railroads.
The unique ability to receive direct pricing from each of the eastern
Class One railroads results in a competitive advantage for this
site.
The CRC rail yard contains miles of track and can hold hundreds
of railcars providing the only unit train receiving location
specific to agribusinesses in New York State. |

| P&L Junction (CRC
Industrial Site) P&L Junction is a
large 400 plus car railroad switching yard located on NYS Route 5 in the Town of
Caledonia, New York. Connected to the yard are long sidings capable of
accommodating unit trains extending into the Village of Caledonia. Due to
P&L’s history as a major junction point of Class 1 railroads it has
heavy duty rail & base.
P&L Junction was
built in the mid-nineteenth century. It was a major junction point of five
major railroads; The B&O, The New York Central, The Erie, The Lehigh
Valley and the G&W. The numerous switches and miles of sidings of
P&L Junction were used to interchanged cars and make up and break up
trains. This activity continued until the creation of ConRail in 1976
merged several railroads and in turn changed rail operations and
traditional traffic lanes in western New York.
Today P&L junction
services the CRC industrial park providing unique unit train capabilities
and connections to all class one eastern railroads.
